Before you buy an office copier on the internet think of this

The internet has become a great tool for price shopping but some things should be purchased locally, especially your next office copier. WHY? Well office copiers are not just a machine that makes copies anymore. Modern office copiers have become network connected devices that can streamline workflow and process digital and hardcopy documents and with that you need a local company to provide your business with the right type of office copier and support after the sale. As a 12 year office technology salesman I've seen it over and over how buying office copiers on the internet has hurt companies trying to save a little money, AND ACTUALLY COST THEM MORE!

Don't let this happen to you

A Maryland real estate company purchased an office copier from an internet company, they got the machine but it did not work. The internet company was extremely slow; 2 weeks go by with no repair. The real estate company then calls us and we repaired the copier the same day. They spent $375.00 for the repair (would have been free if they purchased the copier from us). The real estate company paid $175.00 more for the copier then if they would have purchased it from us locally.

A small manufacturing Maryland company purchased an office copier on the internet they got the machine and tried to connect it to their office network after 4 days no luck they contacted the internet company and were told to contact their local network administrator. Well like so many small companies there network administer was one of the owners family members that knew enough to get there computers running but was clueless about how to connect the copier. They called us and later that day the whole office was scanning and printing to the copier via the office network we charged $625.00 for this service. (Would have been free if they purchased the copier from us). The company paid $500.00 more for the copier then if they would have purchased it from us locally.

These are just a few examples of the potential problems with purchasing a copier from the internet. The internet is a great tool for research and purchasing some products. But before you purchase an office copier, think of the potential problems and who is going to be there to solve them.
